Mega project is one of the essential requirements to complete fellowship at Amal academy. So, we (circle 7) decided to make water filters at home and then provide it to slum areas. Water problem is a common problem in Pakistan especially in slum areas. They cannot afford electric water filters and the quality of water in their area is also very bad. So, we want to play our role to facilitate the people in this problem. We choose a water filter as our mega project. The one thing which is very important while choosing a mega project is sustainability. So, we will not only provide filters to the people of slum areas we will teach them how they can make these filters in future at home.

This is the simplest form of water filter in which we use the following raw material: cotton, bottle, sand, charcoal, stones, filter paper. So, this filter is very affordable. We made a sample and filter water. We use this simplest method to filter water because it will facilitate the people of slum areas to understand it easily and then if they want to make it they can also make this filter.

But the limitations of this filter is that it only purifies physical impurities. It takes 10 minutes to purify the one glass of water.

So, we decide to share our tasks among the group members to complete our mega project. Within the next two weeks we will make our complete water filters. Then our team members will go to the slum areas where they will distribute the water filters. Then after that in the 3rd and 4th week we will prepare our group presentation and our final blog in which we will share our experience of mega project.

We are seven group members of circle 7:

Muhammad Haris, Wajid Ayub, Ehsan Ilyas, Asra Asghar, Afifa Latif, Ayesha Meraj, Rabeea Liaqat.
